A Big (little) Fan

We were watching a televised Barenaked Ladies concert tonight, and Isaac seriously took notice...and rocked out! He has the BNL kids' CD and we took him to a concert in utero, so combined with his reaction to the show today, we are deeming him a die-hard fan!

(Two bellies poking out...)
The moment the music started, Isaac was finished sitting down. Time to dance!

Here are a couple quick videos of Isaac enjoying the music!

(This was his reaction to a shot of the crowd waving their arms in the air during the song's chorus)

We're Ready When You Are, Baby!

Jane hosted Elizabeth's bridal shower today and she was out of her usual jeans or sweats, so Josh snapped a couple pics. Now that the shower is out of the way, we're telling the baby and he or she can come anytime. We figure Isaac was 17 days late...maybe this baby will come 17 days early to even the scale? If so, that would be tomorrow!

Snow!

We woke up to snow our first snow of the season on Saturday morning. Isaac looked out the window and seemed confused at first. After a few minutes of getting accustomed to the white stuff, he was pointing out the window and laughing - as if making sure that we saw it too. All day long, he'd go to the window to check if it was still there.

Cheese Head

Isaac has been on a bit of a hunger strike lately. He eats really well at breakfast, and then barely eats a thing at lunch or dinner. So frustrating, but totally normal for a kid his age. Instead of eating, he opens his mouth to show us half-chewed food before spitting it out and laughing hysterically. He throws food on the floor and he rubs food on his head, again laughing all the while. One trick we have recently discovered is to put cream cheese on his food. Isaac loves cream cheese, and sometimes it will trick him into eating his meal. One bad thing about cream cheese? It's pretty sticky...especially when you get it in your hair.

Obviously, a bath immediately followed!

A Cracker and Cap

Jane got this hat for Josh and, as predicted, he thinks it is dorky and doubts he will wear it. Isaac, however, thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
After Isaac went down for his nap today, Jane discovered a little pile of prized-possessions that he must be saving for later this afternoon...

A cracker and a ball cap?! How cute is that?!

Fun After Dinner

We took turns taking pictures while we played after dinner tonight. The word 'dinner' is being used loosely here, as Isaac hardly ate. To try to compensate, we gave him a smoothie in his sippy cup while we cleaned up.

Here he enjoys his smoothie...

...before stashing it in the magazine rack for later. Then Isaac read us one of his favourite flap books. (Note the cup in the magazine rack!)
"Where is baby?"

"There he is!"

Isaac loves hunting for treasures in the recycling bin. He brings them to us with great pride, like this Yop bottle he brought to Josh.

A tickle fight ensued!Josh was trying to take a picture of Jane's growing belly, but Isaac didn't understand why he wasn't the one in front of the camera. He joined her, and they both had a good laugh!

(37 weeks and counting...)

New Favourite Snack!

Isaac is suddenly bonkers for apples! He doesn't do well with the skin, so we either peel it for him or eat the outer portion before giving it to him. He actually favours the latter, because he thinks it's fun to share food with us. He gets so excited when he sees us reach into the fruit bowl for an apple now! Here he is, enjoying his 'one a day' over the last couple days...

Daytrippin'

Since Josh was off work for the holiday today, we decided to take the day to make a drive that is long overdue. Isaac is 15 months old now, and he had yet to meet his Great Grandmum (Grammie Logan's mother). We have mailed her photos several times over the last year, but it's not the same as seeing your only great-grandchild in person. We loaded into the car this morning, complete with a mini-cooler of snacks, and headed to visit Great Grandmum Gibson!

Isaac started reading a story to Josh and Great Grandmum...
...but, knowing that Josh had seen this book lots of times, he took it over just for Great Grandmum.

Water break! Reading to your Great Grandmum is hard work!

After storytime, Grandmum brought some stuffed toys downstairs to show Isaac. He was delighted!Isaac showed Great Grandmum how he knows how to "Pat Them Gently" (another favourite book)

Before we left, Isaac, Josh and Great Grandmum let Jane take just one more picture of the three of them together. (Isn't she just the cutest thing tucked under Josh's arm like that?!)

The Little Sports Fan

Isaac was playing in the living room while Josh was watching football last night. He's often pretty oblivious to the fact that the TV is on, but last night Jane sat back and laughed as it looked like he was really into the game.

(Yes, once again he is using that hippo toy improperly!)

Watching as they set up the play...

Standing up in the heat of the action (as he has seen Josh do)...

And cheering for the scoring team! (Again, as he has seen Josh do)

If imitation is the highest form of flattery, Josh should be beyond flattered. Isaac wants to sit where Josh sits, eat what Josh eats, and wear what Josh wears. On more than one occassion, he has pulled Josh's clothes out of the hamper and put an arm or his head through a sleeve or a leg hole. He goes through Josh's gym bag and digs out 'treasures' (ranging from a water bottle, to deodorant, to odor eaters) to carry around the house. He's Daddy's Little Man, that's for sure!

Utilizing Utensils

Isaac has been practicing feeding himself with a spoon in the last few days. It often results in what we call 'The Yogurt Goatee", but he's getting better!

And spoon in hand while other hand is in mouth. Whatever works!

Vintage Isaac

A few months ago, Jane's old roommate from residence told her about this website, where you can put your face on a random yearbook photo - each one representing a particular year's styles, etc. Putting our on faces on the pictures was funny, but putting Isaac's face on the pictures was hilarious. Here are a few of our favourites!

Circa 1990
Baby Mullet!

Circa 1988
Circa 1976
Circa 1964
You can definitely some Pop in this one

...And the time stamps on our posts are often mixed-up, but this one really is being posted at 4:30am. The baby en route has decided that Jane isn't allowed to sleep any more. Maybe he or she is just prepping her for the nights to come?

What a Day!

Yesterday was an eventful day for our family!

It all started on Friday morning. Josh woke up with pain in his jaw and swollen glands on one side. He went to work, but the pain got progressively worse and concentrated in a wisdom tooth over the course of the day. It eventually got so bad that it hurt to talk, so he left early. We shortened our list of Halloween stops so we could get him home to bed. Home we got, but he never got to sleep all night. He developed a fever and was sick to his stomach, and couldn't stop shivering for hours. Yesterday morning, we got in touch with the only dentist we really know personally, a friend from high school who we haven't seen in ages - Andrew Halford. Andrew opened his office and met us there at 9am. He did an examination and x-rays to find that there was a big infection underneath Josh's wisdom tooth. He said that he normally refers patients to a dental surgeon to have their wisdom teeth pulled, but if Josh was in this much pain and wanted it out, he would do it. Josh said something along the lines of: "Just do it, man." After a few shots of Novocain and several moments when Jane and Isaac had to leave the room, the tooth was out. Although he was still in pain from the tooth being pulled, Josh said he felt less pressure almost instantly.

Jane and Isaac debated whether they should stay home with the patient or go to the Mommy-Baby Halloween Party they had been invited to. We all figured that Josh would get more rest in a quiet house, so they headed out to the party for a couple hours to give him some peace and quiet.

You will be pleased to know that we didn't take any disgusting pictures of the tooth extraction...but here are some cuties in their costumes from the party. Thanks to Laura and
Chloe for hosting us all!

We weren't able to get a group shot of all the kids, but through the pictures you will probably see all of them: Chloe as a black cat (daughter of Laura), Payton as Cookie Monster (son of Nicole), Spencer as a turtle (son of Trisha), Kiona as a butterfly (daughter of Erica), Ava as a cartoon character that I'm not familiar with...sorry! (daughter of Christine), Gracie as a witch and Brady as a chicken (daughter and son of Heather), Lexi who took off her costume and Brooklyn as a lion (daughters of Jaclyn), and Michaela as Snow White (dauther of Kristen). Also in the crowd were four expectant Mamas: Jane, Laura, Jaclyn, and Kerry-Anne. Looks like there will be at least 4 more babies at next year's party!

Isaac took a very strong liking to Chloe's Grampy from the instant he walked into the room. He kept reaching for him to pick him up and petting his beard!

And to follow-up on Josh's condition - he's doing so much better today. Between an antibiotic for the infection, Tylenol 3 for the pain, and lots of yogurt smoothies, he's a pretty happy camper today!
