Merry Christmas!

We were really late sending out our Christmas cards this year because we wanted to include a festive picture of both boys, so we waited until after Simon was born. Those of you who haven't received it in your mailbox yet will probably get it on Monday. Consider it our way of making Christmas last! :)

Here are a couple of the Christmas photos we took of Isaac and Simon.

First Day Flying Solo

Yesterday was Josh`s first day back to work after his vacation. His vacation time was chosen at this time last year, before we knew of Simon`s pending arrival. Talk about great timing! Josh is going to be taking some parental leave in the new year, and we all can`t wait to have some nice relaxed family time together.

A few pics from Jane`s day with the boys...

Sometimes you just have to capture the innocence of a sleeping baby - even if you are home alone and he is asleep on your shoulder. The solution? Taking a picture in the bathroom mirror.

Yes, this photo is blurry and the sun washing out half of Isaac`s head, but there is just nothing like the excitement of a big laughing toddler hug!

This is probably our favourite photo yet of the boys
A lot of baby clothes have tags that say random little things. This tag is on the sleepers Simon was wearing yesterday afternoon. `Squeeze me`...I thought you`d never ask. :)

And does this sweet little boy look like he`d throw a book at his baby brother`s head? Maybe not, but it happened about 3 minutes after this picture was taken. He is still learning the meaning of the word `gentle`.

Bathing Brothers

Tonight, Josh bathed Isaac in the tub while Jane bathed Simon in the baby bath on the counter in the washroom. They were both in great moods and loving bath-time. It was so nice to hear Isaac's squeals and giggles while watching Simon kick his feet in the water. We had Christmas music on the radio, and Isaac was grooving to the tunes and laughing at his flailing brother. How lucky we are to have these two lovely little guys!

Sleeping Simon

Simon looks so stinkin' cute when he is asleep - especially when he props his head up like this. Josh crawled behind the couch to snap this picture of him sleeping on Jane's shoulder.

Yippee for Scottie and AC!

A couple of Josh's university roommates are in this band. We love them, they played at our wedding reception, and Isaac attended their CD Release Party in utero. A couple of them work on another project together...a kid's group! Kids love "Scottie and The Stars" and it looks like the are getting some recognition! The ECMA's released their nominations today, and they are nominated for Childrens' Recording of the Year. Congrats to Scottie and AC! Our fingers are crossed for you guys :)

"Si!"

Isaac is still a one syllable kind of speaker, so 'Simon' and 'brother' are a little beyond him. He has started saying Si though, which we totally love. (In case it's not obvious, it's like 's-eye' not like 'see').

Here are some pics of our house yesterday, including one where Isaac crawled up on Jane's lap to check on 'Si'

Day #4

We all spent the day at home and in our pyjamas today. It was stormy outside, which made it even easier to snuggle up and be lazy. Here are a few pictures of Simon's 4th day in the world.

Interview with Isaac

Isaac, meet Simon. Simon, meet Isaac.

Here are a few pics documenting the beginning of what we are sure will be a wonderful relationship. Brothers 16 months apart are sure to be best friends, right? That, or worst enemies. We are obviously hoping for the former!

Isaac sporting his "Big Brother" Tshirt, and looking like he has found something to get into!

Isaac already has some big love (and some big hugs) for his little bro.

Loving Life!

A snack, a drink, and a chair that's just his size: What could be better?

Isaac is just loving this chair that we picked up at Superstore today. (Regularly priced at $19.99 and on clearance for $4.94. Can't beat that!) There is a certain air of pride around him when he sits in it - like he knows it's specially for him!

A Big (little) Fan

We were watching a televised Barenaked Ladies concert tonight, and Isaac seriously took notice...and rocked out! He has the BNL kids' CD and we took him to a concert in utero, so combined with his reaction to the show today, we are deeming him a die-hard fan!

(Two bellies poking out...)
The moment the music started, Isaac was finished sitting down. Time to dance!

Here are a couple quick videos of Isaac enjoying the music!

(This was his reaction to a shot of the crowd waving their arms in the air during the song's chorus)

We're Ready When You Are, Baby!

Jane hosted Elizabeth's bridal shower today and she was out of her usual jeans or sweats, so Josh snapped a couple pics. Now that the shower is out of the way, we're telling the baby and he or she can come anytime. We figure Isaac was 17 days late...maybe this baby will come 17 days early to even the scale? If so, that would be tomorrow!

Snow!

We woke up to snow our first snow of the season on Saturday morning. Isaac looked out the window and seemed confused at first. After a few minutes of getting accustomed to the white stuff, he was pointing out the window and laughing - as if making sure that we saw it too. All day long, he'd go to the window to check if it was still there.

Cheese Head

Isaac has been on a bit of a hunger strike lately. He eats really well at breakfast, and then barely eats a thing at lunch or dinner. So frustrating, but totally normal for a kid his age. Instead of eating, he opens his mouth to show us half-chewed food before spitting it out and laughing hysterically. He throws food on the floor and he rubs food on his head, again laughing all the while. One trick we have recently discovered is to put cream cheese on his food. Isaac loves cream cheese, and sometimes it will trick him into eating his meal. One bad thing about cream cheese? It's pretty sticky...especially when you get it in your hair.

A Cracker and Cap

Jane got this hat for Josh and, as predicted, he thinks it is dorky and doubts he will wear it. Isaac, however, thinks it's the coolest thing ever.
After Isaac went down for his nap today, Jane discovered a little pile of prized-possessions that he must be saving for later this afternoon...

A cracker and a ball cap?! How cute is that?!

Fun After Dinner

We took turns taking pictures while we played after dinner tonight. The word 'dinner' is being used loosely here, as Isaac hardly ate. To try to compensate, we gave him a smoothie in his sippy cup while we cleaned up.

Here he enjoys his smoothie...

...before stashing it in the magazine rack for later. Then Isaac read us one of his favourite flap books. (Note the cup in the magazine rack!)
"Where is baby?"

"There he is!"

Isaac loves hunting for treasures in the recycling bin. He brings them to us with great pride, like this Yop bottle he brought to Josh.

A tickle fight ensued!Josh was trying to take a picture of Jane's growing belly, but Isaac didn't understand why he wasn't the one in front of the camera. He joined her, and they both had a good laugh!

(37 weeks and counting...)
