Dress Up!

Isaac pretended to be a lion today, and Simon pretended to be a kangaroo. You know, just because.

It doesn' t get much cuter that sweet smiling faces and costumes with stuffed bellies.

Little Olympians

Thank you to Melissa for these adorable Olympic hats, which she brought back from Vancouver! Isaac and Simon were a little leery of them at first, but loved them after a few peeks in the mirror and being chatted up about them every time they wear the hats in public.

"Hey man. You look pretty goofy. Wait - is that what my hat looks like too?!"

Our little Olympians

Too bad wrestling isn't included in the winter games

Simon's face was really dirty by the end of dinner the other night. Really dirty.

And somehow in running his hands along his slippery face, he discovered his nostril. He didn't actually pick his nose. He didn't even so much as wiggle his finger.
He just slid it in there, and hung out.

Isaac laughed at how silly it was, and Simon looked at him as if to say: "What's so funny?"

The whole charade probably lasted at least two full minutes; Simon's finger straight up his nose and us chuckling. Let's hope this doesn't turn into a habit!

Savouring It

Simon was having a fussy afternoon one day last week and fought his nap. Soon after, he passed out in Jane's arms. She was happy to soak up the snuggle time with him, but had to snap a picture to remember the peacefulness of this sweet sleeper.

They are both growing up so quickly and leaving babyhood behind. It's a reminder to savour the moments.

"Go Tarpees!"

Remember when we posted about Isaac insisting that 'cinnamon' is pronounced 'simmon', etc? Here's one to add to that list.

While watching basketball with Josh today, he insisted on referring to the UNC Tar Heels as The Tarpees. At first we thought he was just being cute and making up a nickname for them, but when Josh tried to correct him, he said: "No, Daddy. It's just The Tarpees. Go Tarpees!!" Unfortunately, the 'Tarpees' are on a bit of a losing streak...but that's a rant for another Logan.

Do You Speak Dragon?

We often sing a little song to cheer for Isaac after he uses the potty. He recently started singing it in a really gruff/strained voice. When we asked him why he was singing it like that, he told us: "That's how dragons sing it." Go figure.

Here's Isaac, singing our potty song in his dragon voice. Simon, as usual, is his shadow and mimic.

Logan-Speak

Some random bits about the boys' speech:

Sometimes we think Isaac is simply mispronouncing words, but was insisting this morning that Jane call cinnamon "simmon" and leftover "left-mores."

Yesterday, Jane asked Isaac what he wants to be when he grows up. His answer? A zebra.

Isaac loves to make up songs. The lyrics of his latest are: "Oh, Sigh-see is breaking my heart all day long." (Although he can say Simon, he generally still says Sigh-see as a nickname)

Lately, Isaac puts toys into a bowl, stirs them around with a spoon and makes soup. (Simon mimics him the whole time) He is always certain to tell us what kind of soup, though it's obvious by the toys in the bowl: car soup, train soup, people soup, puzzle soup, etc. Yesterday, he had a piece of paper and said it was the recipe for his soup. We asked him what the recipe called for, and he said: "blueberries, bananas, strawberries, and cake." We think that sounds like some pretty delicious soup!

Simon will try to repeat just about anything these days. Unprompted though, he says Mama, Dada, go, na (banana), geh (grape), baw (ball), up, pop, buh (book), uh-oh, hot...and a few more that aren't coming to mind at the moment. We can't believe how quickly he is learning new words!

Little Valentines

We hosted a Valentine's Playdate today! And while the actual playdate was too busy for pictures, we do have a few pics of the boys ahead of time.

Here's Isaac, hard at work in the laundry room, finger painting part of Josh's Valentine card. We'll post a picture of it after the boys give it to him on Sunday - it's adorable!

Here are the party animals, waiting for our friends to arrive.

Late last week, Isaac and Simon were busy colouring hearts that we strung into a banner in the entry way. Isaac was so proud to see his work on display. ("See my colouring Dad? That's my colours!")
And Jane made this heart wreath out of (drumroll please...) a metal coat hanger and plastic grocery bags!

The boys made a few more decorations for the playroom, so we'll have to snap some pictures of them to add. :)

And if you are looking for some ideas for Valentine baking, Jane just posted the treats from the playdate here, here, and here!

**Follow-Up**

Here is the card that Isaac and Simon made for Josh, mentioned above. Isaac was SO delighted on Sunday morning when Jane told him it was Valentine's Day and he could go get the card for Daddy - "Is my hands, Dad. Is my hands for you!"

And some of the decorations from the playroom. They both had so much fun working on their festive little projects!

Popcorn!

Isaac and Simon both love to groove to music, and both are especially fond of 'Popcorn' by the Barenaked Ladies. Here they are, popping. Yes, two videos is overkill...but they are short and we can't pick a favourite!

(It took us several views to notice what Isaac says after all his spinning. "Something's going on with me! What's that?" A little dizzy, maybe? HA!)
