Isaac's 3rd Birthday Party

Isaac was on cloud nine for the entire duration of his birthday party. He was genuinely excited as each and every person came through the door and took great pride in playing host.

It was a circus/carnival theme, and the kids had fun with a bean bag toss, ring toss, balloon animals, and some circus colouring pages.

Someone REALLY enjoyed his first experience with popcorn! (His impression of the cotton candy was a little less enjoyable: "This isn't copper candy. It's all hairy!")

This is the only cake shot that shows Isaac singing along with his guests to the Happy Birthday song. He was just too excited to contain himself!

And here are just some gratuitous cute shots of some guests. Our friends and family have such adorable kids!

Bubble Snakes

Thank goodness the brainy woman behind Skip To My Lou scours the internet for great ideas like this for us. The Bubble Snake has been a seriously hot item in our household this summer. We've had snakes that stretch about 4 feet long! Make one - You certainly already have all the materials laying around. And in case you need a little more convincing, here are a few pics of us having fun with some with ours.

Our Family

Marla snapped this photo of us walking up Nan and Pop's driveway last weekend. It's rare that one of us isn't behind the camera, so it's nice to have a little family photo...and one that shows off the babe en route.

Isaac and Simon went with Jane to her doctor's appointment today and heard the heartbeat. Isaac later told Josh: "The baby's heart goes wa-wa-wa-wa-wa..."
In the very few minutes left unattended while we carried some laundry upstairs, Simon was busy. Isaac started yelling: "Mama! Simon broke the compeeger!" We returned to find this:

A New Medium

Isaac and Simon love to paint, but sometimes we are a little pressed for time or we don't want to make a big mess. We were excited to find water paint books at Mardens last week, and they love them! (and so does the unofficial clean-up crew)

Experimenting

Auntie E brought over some pickled lemons last week. Simon is always game to try new food, but we were a little surprised that Isaac wanted to try them too. They didn't like them, as you can probably tell from the expressions in the photos, but at least they were willing to try! Simon actually spit out a piece and then put it back in his mouth at least three times, but we don't think that he ever ended up swallowing it.

Just Like Dad

The boys were a little too quiet in our room the other day, and Jane walked into find them trying on Josh's sneakers. Little girls aren't the only ones who like to play in their parents' closet (or, in this case, gym bag).
