Halloween 2010

When we were staying at Nan and Pop's last fall as they finished construction of our house, Isaac and Simon discovered Toy Story on VHS...and they fell in love. At the time, Isaac called it "Story Book", and now they call it "Woody Buzz."

When going through a bag of hand-me-downs from their cousin Jack, we discovered this great Buzz Lightyear costume. Isaac was delighted! We already had a Woody jumpsuit in our costume trunk that we found at Frenchy's one time, and with a little sprucing up from Nan, it worked perfectly for Simon.

This picture is super dark and out of focus, but we love that they are holding hands in it.
Buzz, ready to take flight
Woody, making sure his hat is on snug.
They set off with Josh to go trick-or-treating. And while this photo is horribly blurry, we hope it can serve to show you how blustery it was. Snow on Halloween?! Luckily the boys' costumes were baggy, so we managed two layers underneath.
Coming home and proudly carrying their bags of treats!

"Just Resting My Eyes"

While Jane was helping her mom with something on Saturday afternoon, Pop took the boys into the den to watch Toy Story with him. We heard the boys laughing and playing, and came in to find this. Pop would certainly try to say that he was just resting his eyes, but we think the boys' boobie-trap of toys proves otherwise!

Sweet Sleeping Simon

For all the tantrums and shenanigans, our spirited Simon is one peaceful sleeper.

29 Weeks

Only 11 (ish) more weeks until we get to meet our new addition!

Chocolate Muffin?

Jane made these pumpkin chocolate muffins this week. We'd tell you not to bother with them, but the kids love them. (Anything with chocolate gets a passing grade in their books)

There is nothing like a super messy face, and Simon wears it well.
And here he is, asking for more. Who could say no to this chocolatey face,
even if he is a little whiney from an overdue nap?

(And the 'no picture' comment? Priceless.)

Nanny McNulty's 95th Birthday

We had an absolutely wonderful celebration of Nanny's 95th birthday on October 10th. By day, we had an open house at Lily Lake Pavillion, where she was delighted to see about 200 friends and family. That evening, we had our close family (minus the youngest generation) back to the same location for a Thanksgiving dinner. Even with the great-grandchildren and a couple spouses missing, we were still almost 30 people around the table. What a great celebration!

The boys had great visit with her on her actual birthday too - October 15th. We recapped the party and heard all about the visits, calls, and cards she received. Oh, to be 95 and still kicking butt at Scrabble!

We should have oodles of photos to share soon from our extended family (there is talk of a big Flickr stream or something) but until then, here's one stolen from Uncle John's Facebook.

(L-R: Jane, Simon, Josh, Isaac, Tom, Nan, Pop, Joe, Aidan, Erin and Kevin)

And here is our wonderful Nanny McNulty at her party(stolen from Joanie's Facebook). She really had an amazing day, and we were so happy to be able to share it with her.

Apple Picking

Jane and our friend Joanna took the boys apple picking recently at MacKay's U-Pick. It was a perfect fall day, and they had a great time! Luckily, Joanna took some pictures that she shared with us.

Our fanta-bulous Joanna with some very distracted toddlers.
Apparently, Isaac thought Simon's hood should be up.
Simon, double-fisting apples.
Simon's big blue eyes
Before we started, the owner of the orchard, Chas, told us that deer and humans eat for free. Good thing - The boys ate their weight in apples that morning!
Jane loves that the combination of a wool sweater and this camera angle make her look much smaller than she is these days!

Please note who is carrying the backpack that Isaac insisted we bring along.
The great pumpkin decision

Rice Krispie Beard

A few weeks ago, Josh drank the last bit of milk from his bowl of cereal in front of Simon. Bad move. Simon has been trying to drink his ever since. The other day, he tried to drink his full bowl of cereal. As frustrated as we were, it was hard not to laugh...or take pictures.

Excuse the horrible cellphone photos:

Terribly out of focus, but you can see what a beard he had! Isaac thought it was a riot.

New PJs and a Funny Clip

Auntie E gave Isaac and Simon some fun new pyjamas, so we thought we'd take a picture to show them off. (Thanks Erin - they love them!)

And because that lackluster was the best photo we could get with all the toddler-isms going on, we thought we'd take a video to show you the challenge of getting a good photo. Listen for what Isaac says when Jane is expecting "cheese."

Morning Routine

One cup for milk, one cup for dry cereal, and the morning paper. A peculiar little fellow, that Isaac!
