1-2-3-GO!

We had dinner at Tim and Linnea's house, and Isaac and Simon had a ball racing around with their cousin Liam. (Abby peacefully slept through their squeals and laughter.) They would stand at the doorway and yell: "1, 2, 3, GO!" before racing to the other end of the deck, where we were sitting, often falling down before making it to us. It's still unclear who laughed more: the kids or the parents!

Crash!
Simon says: "I didn't do it!"Say "cheese!"

How Quickly Things Escalate

Isaac was clapping to try to scare away some birds who were eating our grass seed. (This is slightly more kind that his parents' tactics of throwing ice cubes at them.) Simon wanted to get involved, and you can see how quickly situations in our house can escalate. Boys will be boys!

(And when you hear Jane yelling: "Don't you..." at the end of the video, she is telling Isaac not to throw Simon's hat over the side of the deck - which is exactly what he did.

More Picnic Lunches

We don't look forward to the days when it's chilly enough that we have to eat indoors, because the boys love to have little picnics on the deck

Strange Sleeper

Isaac's 'big boy bed' was a hit for a while, but he's not much of a fan of it anymore. And we have been finding him sleeping in the strangest of places!

Road Trip

We went to a beautiful seaside wedding in Liverpool NS a couple of weekends ago. The boys came along for the getaway and, lucky for us, so did Uncle Tom. Tom babysat the boys in the hotel room while we attended the wedding festivities.

Dave Myers (the groom) and Matt McGuire are on either side of Josh in this picture, and were his roommates for 3 years while he was at UNB.
The hotel we stayed at gave the boys a pet goldfish to look after for the night. They were totally intrigued by every little move this fish made. (And did you know that fish like quiet and darkness? Neither did our kids until we told them that at bedtime. Worked like a charm!)

Family Day

On Isaac's actual birthday, we had a fun family day.

We started out playing some basketball in the driveway or, as Isaac calls it "taking shots." We wonder how long it will take until someone overhears and misinterprets our family's pastime.

Isaac goes in for the steal...
...and takes a jump shot...
But Simon scores a dunk on the rebound!
We then had a trip to a new playground that Josh scoped out, which is just a 2 minute drive from our house. Isaac now refers to it as "Daddy's Park". Does he think Josh goes there without them?

Isaac worked the ice cream counter

Simon drove the school bus (and then slipped and hit his head on the steering wheel and got a bit of a black eye, but we don't need to go there...)Post head-bump, Simon and Josh took some time to chill out in the playhouse.Meanwhile, Jane and Isaac headed to the slide - where a daredevil move just happened to be caught on camera.

Mid-day, Grammie & Grampy Logan and Erin & Kevin stopped in to see the birthday boy. Unfortunately, we didn't get any pics.

Then Isaac opened his present from Joe, Marla, Sam, and Aiden. The Saxoflute was an instant hit!

We finished off the day with picnic at the Irving Nature Park, which is just what Isaac told us he wanted to do for his birthday supper.

All in all, a fantastic day!
